This project was particularly interesting due to the fact that the previous platform didn’t allow the exportation of products, therefore we had to come up with a creative way of getting data out of it. Read on to learn more about data scrapping.

Data scrapping

Data scraping, also known as web scraping, is the process of extracting information or data from websites. It involves automated methods to collect and organize data from web pages, turning unstructured data on the web into a structured and usable format. Data scraping is commonly used for various purposes, such as market research, competitive analysis, content aggregation, and data analysis.

For this project, we used it to collect information about the products (name, description, sizes, images, etc) and import it to WooCommerce.

The site needed to showcase events so our team implemented an Event custom post, with custom fields, to have them structured and neatly organised in the backend.

With Elementor we built a Single Event page leveraging the powerful integration with ACF.

A few advantages of using custom post types:

  1. Structured content, meaning they are organized in their own page (both in the backend and frontend);
  2. Scalability from the perspective of being able to bring new content types in without sacrificing organization or performance;
  3. Better taxonomy management;
  4. Enhanced SEO, since we can add specific SEO data structures to the page.
